This program is designed to equip participants with knowledge and skills necessary to sustain a modern legislature. Legislatures work under constant pressure to enact laws and review national and state policies efficiently and effectively in an ever-changing and complex environment. Working in this environment requires close attention to how the process is managed and how people are aligned to help the institutions function effectively. The focus of this program will be on organizational structure and the practical techniques needed for managing legislative institutions in Nigeria.

Learning objectives:

At the end of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Formulate legislature’s mission, purpose, philosophy and goal
  • Conduct analyses that reflect the legislature’s internal / external environment using the SWOT analysis
  • Identify the most desirable options by evaluating each option in the light of the legislature’s mission and goal.
  • Select a set of long-term objectives and grand strategies that would achieve the most desirable options
  • Develop short-term objectives and strategies that are compatible with the selected set of long-term objectives and goals
  • Implement strategic choices by means of budgeted resources allocation in matching tasks, people, structure, technologies, and reward system.
